The Rudiments of Academic Writing

The Rudiments of Academic Writing by Osuchowska and Kleparski is a useful and interesting book that offers a comprehensive and helpful overview of the issues and questions to be considered when teaching academic writing with special attention to individual aspects of thesis writing. It is intended to assist students of English who are expected to write a thesis as part of their programme with some of the practicalities and methodological issues involved. It also offers a series of suggested activities – practical exercises on individual aspects of thesis composition and academic writing for classwork and homework with an answer key following the exercises. The style is lively and the book reads very well. The bibliography and the notes are thorough and excellent. As such, this book is a valuable introduction and a very good guide to academic writing with special focus on thesis writing and is recommended for both beginners and advanced students.  Z recenzji prof.
